Outlier
Three years ago, as we backpacked across Alaska, I caught sight of my first bear. I was so focused on the scenery that I almost missed her standing on the side of the road. What you cannot see is that we are in a car, safely parked away from her so she could finish her meal. I didn't want to spook her. We were all in awe of the beauty of this beast; it was as though you could reach out and touch her. She was magnificent. I'll never forget that moment. A reality better than dreams.
