Cahaba Lilies
Lilies growing in the shoals of the Cahaba River. The Cahaba is home to a greater diversity of fish species than the entire state of California. Alabama's 132,000 miles of rivers and streams are home to 38% of North America's freshwater fish species, 51% of its freshwater turtle species, and 60% of its freshwater mussel species! Because of her rivers, Alabama ranks in the top 5 states for biological diversity and, unfortunately, endangered species. Stats mostly from alabamarivers.org.
