Cahaba River Lilies
The Cahaba Lilies! These gorgeous lilies grow in only a handful of rivers throughout the southeastern US. Found in shoals and rapids, the bulbs (roots) wedge into the rocky crevices on the floor of the stream providing the only anchor for the plant against the swift waters. Each year when the spring floods recede, the lilies emerge above the water covering the river with blooms!
