Walking through rock to Petra
This is the Siq, a natural gorge that forms the entrance to the ancient city of Petra. I traveled there with a NatGeo expedition in February. My group is shown in the photo - I hung back to take a picture that would reflect the scale of the rocks. The Siq was formed by a natural geological fault. The cliffs reach as high as 265 feet, and the path is only 10 feet wide in some places. It is an awe-inspiring reminder of the power of nature and man's ability to adapt to the natural surroundings.
