We got up at 4am in order to start our ascent of the Ijen volcano. We walked up a steep path for 2 hours, where we were greeted by the local sulfur miners. When we arrived at the top of the volcano, it was still dark, but the first glimpse of light was already visible behind the neighboring volcano top. We moved a bit further on the narrow crater for a better view. A golden sunrise illuminated the immersive cloud-deck drifting below. But the blue lake was visible! What an amazing show we got!
