In the last few days, several painted lady butterflies have visited our lavender hedge. They have all been extremely reluctant to show their upper wings though apart from the one who arrived yesterday. After an interlude with the lavender, it flapped off onto our perimeter brick wall and revealed its wings in all their stunning glory.
