    Reported by:

On May 19, Kapuki, an eastern black rhinoceros, gave birth to a healthy male calf at Regenstein African Journey at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo. The calf had access to the outside for it’s public debut last week. I stopped by the zoo hoping to get a glimpse of the newcomer. Maku, the male was out but the zookeepers said every time the calf approached the door to the outside enclosure, his momma called him back. I settled for a photo of Maku. I’ll try again another time.
