    Bolat, guiding his family of 8 members as well as 450 animals over the frozen Hovd River. The Spring Migration is one of the harshest human migrations due to the extreme weather conditions. This picture was taken after Bolat instructed me and his son Mustafah on the first day of the Migration before our 3 day departure. Bolat's shadowed face contrasts with the bright but deadly environment of the Far West
