    The elephants in the region of Tsavo, Southeastern Kenya, are known as the red elephants because of the deep red soil. Since elephants love water they regularly take a dip and then roll in the mud or cover themselves in dust to help with the sun and insects. Thus the Tsavo elephants take on a glowing red color unlike most areas of Africa
