Modern rowing as a competitive sport can be traced back to the early 17th century when races[regattas ]were held between professional watermen on the River Thames. Today teams of rowers can be seen practising in the early morning and late into the evening. In this shot, I liked the way the light hit the splash of water above the oar on the right and the way it lit the red top of one of the oarsmen making it the only colour in the frame.
