The motanka dolls are one of the most ancient handmade items in Ukraine. Initially fashioned as a domestic symbol of fertility and household guardians, these dolls played an important role in the everyday life of Ukrainians back in the old days. People still use them mostly in home decor and style but not as a ritual items.
