I love visiting Joshua Tree in the summer, but only at night. The temperature is comfortable for star gazing and the remoteness of the park means the sky is dark enough to see the stars, except when the moon is out. This night, the moon was but a medium sized crescent, but already it's shine threatened to blank out the milky way. The upside is, the landscape is illuminated in a new way.
