Take a short 20-mile drive west of the Las Vegas strip and you will find a beautiful oasis in the Mojave Desert. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Embark on the 13-mile scenic drive and park at one of the many turnouts to explore the flora and fauna or start a hike on one of the 27 marked trails that range from easy to expert. Be prepared for the trail with water, sunscreen and proper footwear. I waited on the trail for the sun to illuminate this lone Joshua Tree. It was so very quiet.
