I took this photo at around 12,000 feet, from a ridge overlooking the Sherpa town Namche Bazaar. The Himalayan settlement lies along the route to Everest Base Camp, but in December, there were very few climbers there. I was on a "teahouse trek," with Namche as my home base. As it was the middle of winter, most teahouses and cafes were empty apart from the local Sherpa inhabitants and a few other stragglers who decided to visit the Himalayas during the coldest time of the year.
