A cinder cone topped with friendly bees
After hiking past 7000' elevation, through loose lava rock up a 35% grade, we alighted the cinder cone in Lassen Volcanic National Park to find a flurry of friendly bumbles. After watching a lady nearly fall off the mountain while flailing at the fuzzy critters, I told my daughter that they were not being aggressive but only wanted her moisture & sweat. She embraced them, giggled as they licked her arms, & told other hikers not to fear the bees.
