Traditional fishing with canoes is the source of income of many families living in the estuarine zone of Paraná and São Paulo states in Brazil. This region preserves the largest portion of pristine Atlantic Rainforest, with high levels of endemic species and a huge biodiversity. These traditional communities are key for the conservation and sustainable use of the forest, while the forest and the estuarine waters are key for maintaining these communities.
