A Fish Market in Hakodate, Hokkaido - A few years ago, my family and I traveled to the northern island of Hokkaido. We extended our trip to Hokodate which is a port city. The morning fish market is a well known tourist attraction there. We were there in the middle of the winter. These fish markets utilize the sub-zero cold winter air so that the fish are naturally refrigerated - no doors and windows. The markets sell such delicacies as salmon and many kinds of fish caught in nearby waters.
