This young cattle egret spent a good part of the afternoon with us. It was preening itself painstakingly -almost every feather-, stopping sporadically to listen to the sounds coming from the surroundings: aircraft flying overhead, our footsteps, dogs barking, ... . It finally left when a low-flying plane passed too close making a thunderous noise. Handheld. Cropped.
