    Reported by:

A herd of caribou inhabits the tundra plateau of the Mont Jacques Cartier (elev 1270m) in Gaspesie Quebec. They feed on the abundant lichen growing on the rocky ground. The ecosystem's fragility has prompted the national park's services to limit the hours of visitor accessibility to the plateau. Hikers are asked to keep to the paths but as we see here, many want to leave their mark.
