    As I crouched to snap a picture of our flower garden, I noticed this daddy longlegs hugging one of the flowers. Also known as harvestmen, these creatures differ from spiders in that their three body segments (head, thorax, and abdomen) are fused into one compact unit. They also have only one pair of eyes -- not three or four pairs like spiders. Adult harvestmen generally hide during the day and become active at twilight when they wander in search of food such as insects and plant matter.
