A local Nepalese lady standing by her doorstep observing enthusiastic hikers passing by on the classical “Everest Base Camp” route from Jiri. The overwhelming majority of the hikers start their hike from the well known Lukla airport, flying directly from Kathmandu. Despite its support for the locals, the commercialization of the route has become a burden for the locals and the nature, with the vast amount of waste and packed products that are being ported along the route to satisfy the demand.
