    One example of my "Mothography." For awhile there, I'd turn on the porch lights as it was getting dark, go out a few hours later, maneuver a complacent moth onto my fingertip and shoot away. By now I've done a couple hundred, which I estimate is about half of what's out there (n. Va). Normally Lepidoptera (moths & butterflies) are photographed for their wing patterns, colors, and shapes. My approach is more like moth portraiture.
