Fireweed at Reurrection Bay
Fireweed blooms in mid summer, and the flowers make their way from the bottom of the stalk to the top. After the blooms reach the top, the plant goes to seed (or cotton, as we call it). Some believe that once the plant goes to cotton, there are only 6 weeks until winter.
