Piping Plover Hatchlings
In 2010, I spent the summer working as a field biologist surveying and banding piping plovers (Charadrius melodus) nesting on sandbars along the Missouri River. I quickly snapped this photo after banding these 2 chicks - they were only hours old. Check out the egg tooth! Taken June 2010.
