The name "giraffe" has its earliest known origins in the Arabic word zarafa (Fast Walker). Giraffes originally from Africa, usually inhabit savannas, grasslands, and open woodlands. Their primary food source is acacia leaves, which they browse at heights most other herbivores cannot reach.
