In the hot afternoon sun, in Mikumi National Park, Tanzania, this lioness and four others rested on a termite hill where a scraggly bush provide some shade. Suddenly the pride stood and this female glanced at my for a split second as she stepped under the branches. I was using a very long lens and prefocused on those branches hoping for this moment and after the shutter was clicked I looked at the display, gave a huge smile and whispered a 'thank you' to the lion before driving off.
