The Fresnel lenses of the farol at Lajes das Flores at dusk reflect the inside of the lighthouse tower, with the Atlantic Ocean beyond. The splendid isolation of Flores, the most western of the Azores Island group, makes this lighthouse an important navigation signal for ships in a vast ocean.
