At least two otter families, probably more, have dens within walking distance of my home in the heart of Vancouver, Western Canada's largest city. They're cautious about people when they're on the shore, but as long as a bit of water separates them from people they don't seem to notice us. They're river otters, but their dens are on the harbour. Moms feed the young on rocks exposed at mid-tide. In this frame, she has already fed two young ones, and now she's trying to keep a fish for herself.
