    The Hillsboro lighthouse was constructed in Detroit in 1906 and shipped through the great lakes, the Mississippi River, The Gulf of Mexico and The Florida Keys until it arrived. Finally, in 1907, the lighthouse was placed. It is at the inlet location where the historic barefoot mailman died.
