In August 2013 I visited Little Diomede. In the photo the island on the right is Little Diomede (USA) and the one on the left is Big Diomede (Russia). This island has very few Inupiaq or to say native Alaskans left. However inside the broken down huts in this island one can find indoor heating and even flat panel TVs!! With Inupiaqs moving out of this island in search of jobs the old traditions and customs are fast disappearing. What still remains is the old stories of hunting and black magic!!
