Rainstorm at Atigun Pass, AK
A drive up the Dalton Hwy (Haul Rd) in Alaska is beautiful and lonely. This road parallels the trans-Alaska pipeline from the Elliott Hwy north of Fairbanks all the way to Prudhoe Bay. It is mostly dirt or gravel, and is primarily a trucking route to the oil fields. The road is more than 400 miles long.
Atigun Pass (elev 4739'/1441m) s the highest pass in the Brooks Range. It is where the Dalton Hwy crosses the continental divide. In summer, the landscape is lush and green.
