    This is a detail from an altarpiece in a church in Malta, depicting the Massacre of the Innocents. The event, suitably horrific even as a story in text, is brought to 'life' by the detail of each expressionless severed child's head so lovingly worked into this piece by the artist. Personally, I find it totally creepy. Modern horror films could learn a lot from religious art.
