The Meat Carver
There is always that one person in every family that some how gets assigned to carve the meat on holidays and gatherings or to serve the food. It's not necessarily seniority, but an unspoken acknowledgment of that one person who always steps up. Before you know it, it becomes a tradition and you can't imagine anyone else doing it. There is that blend of hunger, anticipation and the comfort of familiarity.
