White Lined Sphinx Moth
In late Summer, these wonderful insects gather in great number collecting nectar from many sources, here we see one feeding on Jewel weed, which curiously when made into a poultice will assuage the bite of mosquitoes or poison ivy. This image was made in Racine, Wisconsin, near the shore of lake Michigan. They are wonderful to witness, as dozens of them will go about their business with little attention paid to us Humans, frequently even bumping into us. Canon 5DMKII, 100mm Macro, Handheld.
