The Genovese Tower of Capitello in Corsica was built during the 16th century. Among the 97 Genovese Towers built at that time, 67 of them still remain standing nowadays. Built to prevent from invasion, a smoke or a fire was set off at the top the tower , the signal was reapeted to every tower of Corsica which permetted to alert the whole island in record time.
