Sweets are most essential part of every culture. Mandya district,Karnataka, India is famous for its sugar cane produce, and so for its jaggery and sugar as well. While there are lot of large scale sugar factories, there are small scale ones in villages called "Aale mane" which simply means a small house where sugar cane juice is converted to jaggery. Jaggery is made in the form of small buckets(and other shapes) which is said to be much more tastier than the ones that are made in large factories.
