    Reported by:

A Cedar Waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum) stretches its wing while facing its mate(?) in a Silver Maple tree in New York's northern Finger Lakes region. Note the red feather tips on the left. They're said to resemble red sealing wax, hence the name. It's early spring, the sun is bright and the sky is blue. Waxwings are nomadic - here today, gone tomorrow. You can tell whether they might be near you by looking at their eBird range map. (photo ref. # D043083)
