A Florida Short Tailed Hawk waiting impatiently for her chance to hunt. This bird was sitting in a shadowed overhang, Every once in awhile stepping into a stray beam of light. One minute you could see see clearly then the next she would disappear into the shadows. I can only imagine how this disappearing act would help her in her hunting. I doubt her prey would ever see her coming. Photo taken with flash in a shadowed corner. Small spot blackening in background to get rid of flash on nailheads.
