A pair of Northern Shovelers dabble in the wetlands of Cosumnes River Preserve. During the photo, the a thunderstorm was arriving and winds were picking up across the wetlands. The rain sprinkled in sideways, a sign that we should retreat to shelter soon. Right before the downpour began, my brother was nice enough to stand upwind from the camera, shielding it from the rain as I took this photo.
