The mediaeval St Thomas à Becket Church in Fairfield is located in a field on the Marsh, surrounded only by water courses and grazing sheep. The village of Fairfield which it once served has long since disappeared, but the church has survived and it stands alone in the Romney Marshes. Often used for film locations, most recent being a TV's adaptation of 'Great Expectations'.
