Every year, during the Historic Carnival of Ivrea, tens of thousands of blood oranges find their end in the fights between the "armies" of different neighborhoods of the city. Nowadays, the event represents the most important food battle in Italy, very similar to "La tomatina" in Spain. The title is a citation from Dante Aligheri, "Divine Comedy - the Hell" recalling here the fate of all the oranges entering in the game...
