Christmas Cactus
The blossom you see in this photo is very special to me. You see, this Christmas cactus was my mother's favorite plant. Last year, at the age of 75, my beautiful mother succumbed to the cancer she battled for nearly 25 years. It was Christmastime when she left us and in the months following her passing, I tended to her many plants. In all the years she'd had this cactus, I'd not once seen it blossom. However, a few days ago, a wondrous thing happened: It bloomed. Thank you, mom.
