Before my visit, I had seen the american southwest only through the romanticized lens of the Hollywood industry. While the landscape's beauty served to distract the masses, I couldn't ignore the crippling poverty which be struck the people of the noble land. Especially in native american communities, high school graduation rates are as low as 23%, and alcoholism is rampant. This picture serves to illustrate the lasting affects from the cross country genocide we committed so many years ago.
