On the last day of our stay in Maasai Mara and Porini Lion Camp in December 2013, my brother and I visited a local Maasai village. Upon our arrival into the village, we were greeted by young Maasai warriors, whom sang and danced their welcoming ritual and did the high jumps - a competition held during the mating ritual - the higher they jump, the more suitable they are as a match for a young Maasai woman - women are not allowed to jump, so lucky for me, I was only a spectator, unlike my brother.
