    Reported by:

I took a cruise along the rugged coastline of South Bruny Island from Adventure Bay to the meeting of the Tasman Sea and the Southern Ocean. We were visiting colonies of New Zealand and Australian Fur Seals, when the guide pointed out this Weddell Seal, hauled out on the rocks. Normally found on polar ice, "Sightings of the seals have been made in… Australia, though they are very rare indeed"(www.antarctica.gov.au). The seal seemed to look calmly straight into my eyes: a very special moment.
