Mount Fuji at sunrise isn't quite the Zen oasis it seems to be from a distance. As climbers ascend together in hopes of catching the sunrise, bottlenecks cause queues to snake down the trail. Nevertheless, legs sore from scrabbling up the loose volcanic rock, it's clear that pilgrims to the mountain share a unique moment as they shuffle forward slowly. Quiet or not, there's still nothing quite like seeing the sunrise at the top.
