    This moment is a fond memory. We had lost our guide and the local Hmong women had become our substitute leaders. Unsure as to how far ahead to go, we waited in a little wooden shelter, watching this content woman shuck corn, until word reached us that our guide was assisting an ill walker in our group to get back to Sapa. We had to tear ourselves away from this bucolic scene and resume our hike...
