Edit Photo Details Spirit Little Cedar Tree   #nature #tree #reservation
This gnarled old cedar tree is growing out of the rocky shoreline of Lake Superior and is located on the Grand Portage Ojibwe Reservation in Northern Minnesota. It is called "Spirit Little Cedar Tree" but is also known as the "Witch Tree." I prefer Spirit Little Cedar Tree. Ojibwe and Native people view it as a sacred place and leave traditional offerings at it such as tobacco ties. Grand Portage Reservation is the land of my maternal ancestors. I feel very connected to this place.
