    This photo was taken in the winter of 2011, in the North Fork Toutle River Valley, on the West side of Mt. St. Helens, in SW Washington, home to over 12,000 Elk, the States largest herd.   Under the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) management, the herds out grew its habitat, and started dying off from starvation.   Non-profit organizations started winter feeding of alfalfa in an attempt to save the herd during the winter months.  The evolution of nature and mans decisions in and
