I just parked my car at the location to begin hiking. Just a few steps from the car on the trail this cottontail was huddled among the leafless branches. My camera still in its' pack, I wasn't going to stop because I thought any moment the rabbit would just bolt away. However, it stayed and I set up and shot 10 frames. Even maneuvering closer to about 15 feet. The most patient wild rabbit I've ever met.
